Wild deer populations are expanding rapidly across NSW, with species including fallow, red, rusa, and sambar deer causing increasing damage to agriculture, forestry, and native ecosystems. Deer damage fences, crops, and plantations, and can cause serious vehicle collisions on rural roads.
Ecological Threat
Damage forests through browsing and rubbing. Compete with native herbivores, damage crops and fences, create road safety hazards.
JBM's Management Approach
Ground and aerial culling targeting all species (Fallow, Red, Sambar, Chital) with drone-assisted detection in dense timber.
